About the site
We would like to invite you to stay at our alpaca enclosure. Get up and go to sleep with the alpacas, enjoy the view of the alpacas all day long. The animals are tame, come to the fence and greet you with their big, round eyes. We have a 4-sided alpaca farm in St. Egidien, conveniently located 5 km from the A4 Erfurt-Dresden and 18 km from the A72 Hof-Leipzig. The access road is well developed. In the village there is a pastry shop and a butcher who offers breakfast. Shopping is possible in the Auersberg Center 2 km away. Electricity and fresh water are optionally available. Dogs are welcome and have free access to walks after the railway tunnel. (Don't worry, trains run almost silently these days and if a steam train should come by, then that is quite an event...) There are restaurants near us in Lichtenstein, Glauchau and Bernsdorf. A children's playground is 400 m away. Excursion destinations include: Oberwald Callenberg reservoir with summer toboggan run and from there the hiking trail to the Karl May Cave, Vorderglauchau and Hinterglauchau Castle, Lichtenstein Mini World, the Mining Museum in Oelsnitz, the Karl May Museum in Hohenstein-Er. and it is 5 km to the legendary Sachsenring race track. If you have some time on your hands, then booking an alpaca hike or visiting our alpaca wool farm shop is a great experience. If you stay with us for more than 5 nights, we offer you a 2-hour alpaca hike for half price (only €12/person instead of €24). You can explore the area by bike. For example, it is easy to cycle to Glauchau and then along the Mulden cycle path to Zwickau. Another lovely destination is the pottery town of Waldenburg with its castle and Grünefelder Park. St. Egidien has a train station and you can cycle to the train and then take your bike on the train to Zwickau or Chemnitz, Freiberg or Dresden, Oelsnitz or Stollberg. Superbly beautiful and quiet location. The host even gave us a private tour of the alpaca enclosure. We were also very impressed by the toilet and shower facilities. Thank you very much.

We had a wonderful stay with Torsten at his alpaca farm. Since we were passing through, the place was perfect, as it's only 10 minutes from the A4. You stand directly next to the enclosure and can always enjoy the presence of the alpacas directly opposite. Torsten's pitch is slightly sloping, so wheel chocks are a good idea. In addition to the power connection, Torsten also has some boards of his own that could be used as wheel chocks if you don't have any of your own. It was also really cool that Torsten took the time to show us his entire farm and the various alpaca herds, and told us a bit about animal husbandry. We also had the opportunity to purchase some handmade socks from his small alpaca shop. Next time we have a bit more time, we would like to stay longer than one night because the area itself already offers enough options for day trips.

Thank you for two very relaxing days. Due to the weather, the meadow was impassable, so we parked right in the farmyard. Electricity was available, and the staff were very friendly and available to answer any questions. We were able to visit the alpacas and learned a lot of interesting things. The small farm shop, in particular, is full of treasures. Thank you very much, and we'd love to come back again sometime :)
