Next to our large meadow of flowers and orchards, beneath the old cherry tree and the rustic weeping willow, is the approximately 1,000-square-meter lawn, inviting campers of all ages to relax and unwind. A separate driveway leads to the pitch, guaranteeing peace and quiet. With a little luck, you'll find many cranes in the surrounding fields in spring and fall. Our almost 100-year-old farm is located in a secluded location surrounded by fields. Our small village of Mellinghausen is located south of the Wildeshausen Geest in the Diepholz district. The nearest larger medium-sized town is the town of Sulingen. Many activities are possible in the region. Those who enjoy hiking, Nordic walking, or cycling will find beautiful spots to explore in the nearby area and in the surrounding moors. The Weser floodplains around Hoya and Nienburg also offer charming trails. In the town itself, there is an alpaca farm offering hikes. A goat and donkey farm offers fresh goat cheese and donkey trekking. In the neighboring town of Siedenburg, there is a heated outdoor pool, and the larger inland bodies of water, Lake Dümmer and Lake Steinhude, are within easy reach. The Petermoor Archepark in Bassum, the Ströhen Animal Park, and the Wolf Center in Dörverden are other attractive destinations. Those who want to experience even more of nature at its finest can visit the Moorwelten (Moor Worlds) in Ströhen, the Kuppendorf Heath during its flowering season in August, or the Sensory Garden in Freistatt. A canoe trip on the Hunte River is also particularly enjoyable, with several canoe rental companies offering canoeing. Those in the mood for a movie will find something to suit them in Sulingen or Nienburg. Good restaurants for every taste can be found in the town itself, in Sulingen, Bruchhausen-Vilsen, Nienburg, and other medium-sized towns in the surrounding area.
