About the site
Welcome to La Villeneuve! Your pitch is located on one of the hills amidst the countryside of southern Burgundy, surrounded by forests, hills, and fields, about 45 minutes from the A6 (Autoroute du Solail) in Chalon-sur-Saône. Four pitches are located in the orchard of a former vineyard (8,000 m²) with a manor house, outbuildings, garden, and park, separated from each other by fruit trees. Each pitch offers plenty of private space. The entire property is surrounded by a wall. Motorcyclists, families with children, hikers, and cyclists are all welcome. Due to some very bad experiences, which have cost the lives of some of our animals and injured others, we have decided, with a heavy heart, to no longer accept guest dogs. Various benches, table groups, and other resting areas, especially in the park, invite you to linger. Enjoy the beautiful view and meet our numerous free-roaming animals. Whether it's the domestic animals like dogs, cats, chickens, peacocks, and a donkey, small wild animals and birds, or our only neighbors, the Charolais cattle, each one will curiously observe you. Here, you can expect plenty of nature, peace and relaxation, and direct contact with the land and its people. Electrical hookups are available for camper vans. Drinking water is also provided. An outbuilding houses a toilet, a shower, a lounge, and a fully equipped kitchen with hotplates, a microwave, a kettle, a coffee machine, a large refrigerator and freezer, dishes, cutlery, pots, and more. A wastewater disposal site is located about 10 minutes away and is easily accessible. On request, we are happy to prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and cake, or packed lunches. There are many hiking trails, cycle paths, markets, and festivals in this area. Activities such as swimming, fishing, kayaking, boat trips, covered wagon rides, carting, etc. are also possible. Not far away are theme parks, a zoo, a thermal bath, castles, archaeological sites (e.g., Bibracte), pilgrimage sites (Paray-Le-Monial, Cluny), a Buddhist temple, geological features, museums, cultural institutions, restaurants, shops, etc. Excursions to Lyon (approx. 1.5 hours), Guédelon Castle (approx. 2.5 hours), Lake Geneva (approx. 2.5 hours), Vezelay (approx. 2 hours), or the Burgundy wine region (approx. 1 hour) are also possible. Even Paris can be reached in 4 hours. Upon request, we are happy to serve as your personal tour guide for some of the sights. Whether you want to spend your entire vacation with us or are simply passing through, we look forward to welcoming you soon!

Site rules
Please refrain from smoking in the buildings, from excessive parties, and treat our animals, us, our property, nature, and the surrounding area with kindness. Respect your fellow residents, especially during quiet hours! We've had very bad experiences, so we can no longer welcome dogs! Of course, we know that not all dogs are the same and deeply regret that we had to make this decision. But some of our animals died, and others were injured by guest dogs...

What can I say?! You drive unsuspectingly through France on your way to Marseille and then, just for a stopover and an overnight stay, end up at the Secret Garden. Greeted by two lovely dogs and escorted by countless chickens, we arrived at a fairytale estate and met our hosts, Christine and Gerard. And the end of the story?! After the first night, we decided not to continue on to the South of France but to spend our entire vacation (5 days) with them. And we didn't regret it ;) We've rarely experienced such warmth from "strangers." Many pleasant conversations, countless insider tips, and a delicious dinner together made our time here even more enjoyable. Animal lovers will especially enjoy themselves. We had breakfast in the morning with a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside, surrounded by free-range chickens and peacocks that curiously lingered near us. We snuggled briefly with one of the cats or dogs before relaxing on our next day trip. Dear Christine, dear Gerard, we felt very comfortable with you and will definitely be back at your door sometime. Thank you for everything and best wishes from Hamburg, Larissa and Stephan

Beautiful property, with several available pitches. Perfect for campers up to 6 meters in size. A common room, bathroom, and kitchen are available, and at night, a beautiful starry sky awaits. The road runs past the property, but there's hardly any traffic. And the hosts were super friendly!

A mysterious, enchanted garden on an old vineyard in the heart of Burgundy. A dreamy place. A dreamy view. Off the beaten track, somewhere. Lots of animals. Lovely dogs, cuddly cats, and a warm welcome from the very beginning. Thank you Christine and Gerad! We felt very comfortable and are still happy to have found this "place." We'll be back.
