We offer an idyllic campsite directly on the banks of the former border river Werra. Our campsite has a fire pit, direct access to the water, and plenty of nature, including ticks, mosquitoes, croaking frogs, and the singing of nightingales. Horses occasionally graze next door. Across the river, on the other side, behind trees, is a federal highway. It's very quiet at night, but traffic increases on weekday mornings. The Werra is an ideal river for canoeing or paddleboarding. The Werra Cycle Path and the Green Belt hiking trail also run alongside our property. A bus stop is 100 meters away. If you wish, you can also swim in the Werra; we have a small staircase on the bank for access to the cool water. The inner-German border ran here over 30 years ago. History within reach ;-) The House on the Border, the Bridge of Unity, and the Border Museum in the former border tower are within easy walking distance. Furthermore, there are: - many hiking trails & small mountains (the northern Kuppenrhön) - two swimming pools (2km each) - indoor tennis court (2km) - bike park (approx. 15km) - canoe rentals (15km) - cycling paths - museums (Border Museum, Local History Museum, Mining Museum, Visitor Mine, etc.) - fishing license sales Our house and a few neighbors are within sight of the campsite. Our cat Ogel (all black) will surely visit you from time to time, and the neighbors also have cats. We welcome all nature-loving campers/vanlifers who want to enjoy the campsite with a view and leave the place clean. Furthermore, you should be self-sufficient, your vehicle should not exceed 6.50 meters in length or 3.5 tons in weight, and you should be able to reverse approximately 50 meters, as turning around on the site is difficult. From October to May, the site is only bookable for 4x4 vehicles. Children and pets are included in the price; please indicate this when booking.
