YES, WE ARE OPEN 365 DAYS A YEAR! Cascina Mottainai is a small, off-grid campsite in the hills, a 20-minute drive from Bologna. We're located along Via Mater Dei, bordering the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi dell'Abbadessa, a protected area populated by foxes, roe deer, porcupines, and many other wildlife. The pitches are simple, with electricity hookups and water hookups (no drainage). Access to the bonfire and barbecue area is permitted, with firewood available on site. Children and dogs are welcome year-round. The pitches are equipped with electricity hookups (up to 16 amps, an additional cost of €5 per day). There's an outdoor camping kitchen and a dry bathroom with an outdoor shower (see photo). The road to get there is uphill and unpaved, but accessible by any vehicle. We recommend using Via Rio Fabbiani 8 as your reference point and following the signs for Cascina Mottainai (NOT Via della Canovaccia). You can pay by credit card, PayPal, or cash. Laundry service is also available. Please always check availability, especially in high season, on the website or by phone. We only have three spaces for campers up to 6 meters in length. IN THE SURROUNDINGS The "Anello della Barcona" trail begins at the Cascina, a circular route that can be explored in about a couple of hours. Nearby, within walking distance, is the Cà del Brado microbrewery, offering tastings, guided tours, and Italian craft beers. Bus 96 takes you to Bologna, taking the road that leads to the Cascina, a walk of about 30 minutes without transfers. There are also a couple of restaurants within walking distance, such as Al Cuntadein (a pizzeria and restaurant serving Campania cuisine) or Il Cavallino Bianco (a pizzeria and restaurant serving Emilian cuisine). Mountain biking is also possible, reaching the Basilica of San Luca in the center of Bologna, the "buche del Savena" (natural pools perfect for swimming in the summer), and many other beautiful spots!
