About the site
Our favorite spot is located on the enchanting grounds of the old paper mill in Neu Kaliss. Located directly on the Elde River, a tributary of the Elbe, you can wander through this charming abandoned place, visit the historical exhibition, kayak towards the old mill or to the nature reserve near Dömitz. Alternatively, you can go fishing or explore the Elbe Cycle Path. Anyone expecting individual plots or a traditional camping atmosphere will be disappointed. But here you'll find even more industrial heritage, lost place charm, and wild nature! This is a unique, unspoiled place to spend a few relaxing days far from the big city. The old brick buildings provide a home for falcons, storks, and kites; deer roam the fields, and in the mornings you'll be awakened by sheep or free-range chickens. The sunset terrace on the island, with its Hollywood swing and comfortable garden furniture, invites you to linger, and in the evenings there is often a fire or spontaneous cinema on the big screen. The grounds include the office building, which is currently hosting various creative projects and an exhibition about the history of the factory. You are also welcome to explore the old paper mill's grounds on the island, with all its enchanting corners, and enjoy the sunset over the fields.

Auch wir hatten den schönen Platz gleich an der Elde. Wir hatten zwei süße Schweine und ein paar Gänse zu Besuch. Das Gelände mit den alten Fabrikgebäuden ist sehenswert. Mit dem Rad nach Dömitz (Festung und Hafen besichtigen und ein original DDR-Softeis direkt bei der Kirche) und zwei schöne ruhige Tage an der Elde verbracht.
Wir standen 3 Nächte auf der Insel direkt an der Elde. Einfach wunderschön! Unsere Nachbarn waren die zwei zu zuckersüßen Hängebauchschweine Salt und Pepper 😍 Hin und wieder kommt ein Boot vorbei und der Sonnenuntergang war grandios. Günter ist ein super Gastgeber und hat uns sogar mit einem Verlängerungskabel ausgeholfen, damit wir an den Landstrom konnten. Ansonsten war alles vorhanden was man braucht... Toiletten, Duschen, Abwaschstation, Strom, Trinkwasser. Und die Gemäuer der alten Papierfabrik sprechen für sich. Einfach ein wunderbar verwunschener Ort, dem nach und nach wieder leben eingehaucht wird. Vielen Dank für diesen tollen Ort! Wir kommen gerne wieder! Sebastian und Sohnemann Mats
Es war ein super Aufenthalt auf dem Areal der alten Papierfabrik. Die Gebäude, die Menschen und die Tiere, top. Wir konnten mit Spannung die verschiedenen Räumlichkeiten entdecken. Gegen Abend die Geschichten von Günter, der Hammer. Wir kommen wieder… Grüße…
Ein schöner Ort, mit interessanter erlebenswerter Historie. Obwohl der Platz gut besucht war standen wir sehr ruhig und für unseren Hund ein Paradies. Ein sehr großes Lob an Günter, der das alles möglich macht und hier einen tollen Erlebensraum geschaffen hat. Wir waren nicht das letzte Mal hier!
Unser Aufenthalt an der alten Papierfabrik in Neu Kaliß war wirklich etwas Besonderes. Wir haben dort gecampt und die Ruhe, die Atmosphäre und die beeindruckende Industriegeschichte des Geländes sehr genossen. Der Ort hat einen ganz eigenen Charme – ein faszinierender „Lost Place“ mit viel Charakter und spannenden Ideen für die Zukunft. Uns ging es dort genauso, wie wir es immer sagen: Kopf leer, Alltag weg, nur wir. Genau diese Ruhe und die besondere Stimmung haben den Aufenthalt für uns so besonders gemacht. Vielen Dank an Hannes und Sören für den herzlichen Empfang und die nette Unterhaltung. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und kommen gerne wieder.
