What fascinates you? A beautiful sunset by the campfire, or is it a starry night with almost no light pollution? You'll find this campsite on the rural outskirts of Ibbenbüren, in the Bockraden farming community, right in the heart of the Schafbergplatte cultural landscape. You'll find it on the grounds of a former farming community school, which has been converted into residential areas. Small concerts or other cultural events occasionally take place here, but it's mostly quiet. We will inform you of any missed appointments. Surroundings The region's diversity invites you to hike or cycle. In Ibbenbüren, you'll find the Teutoburg Forest with the Hermannsweg trail. You can easily embark on multi-day hikes here, or treat yourself to a picnic on the "Hockendes Weib" rock formation and enjoy the view over the Münsterland region. Want to go climbing? The Brumley Valley is one of four valleys whose walls, reaching up to 24 meters in height, are quite challenging. An alternative, but no less exciting, is a visit to the climbing forest at Lake Aasee. Visit the Tüötten village of Mettingen (5 km) and follow in the footsteps of the Tüötten (linen merchants) from the 16th/17th centuries. The village museums show you how these traveling merchants, the Tüötten, became one of the most experienced and pioneering trading companies in the international fashion industry. The fashion and trading house C & A has its roots right here in this small village (Tüötten Museum and the Draiflessen Museum). In Recke (4 km), the Mittelland Canal awaits you, for example, for fishing. The canal or the forest outdoor pool, located directly next to the marina, also invite you to cool off in hot summers. Looking for culture? The "DA Kloster Gravenhorst" art museum is easily accessible by bike (6 km). ...or...how about a visit to Germany's largest open-air music theater? The Tecklenburg Open-Air Stage (15 km), located in the ruins of Tecklenburg Castle, offers over 2,300 seats for plays, operas, operettas, musicals, and other musical events. The town center with its many half-timbered houses is also worth seeing. And if you're looking for a bit more of a city, Osnabrück can be reached by train in 14 minutes. The journey to Münster takes a bit longer, at almost 50 minutes (by car or train). You can find weekly markets in Ibbenbüren (3.5 km) on Wednesdays and Fridays. Supermarkets, doctors, and pharmacies are 2.5 km away. The area around our campsite is hilly. With the extensive Carboniferous sandstone quarries on the Kälberberg and Dickenberg, the abandoned ore mine on the Rochusknapp, and the remnants of historic coal mining (including mining pits and ore pits) and modern coal mining (including pit shafts, tailings dumps, drainage tunnels, and narrow-gauge railway lines), numerous landscape-defining mining traces from this once significant period for the region are still visible. You may have noticed... we are "in love with our homeland"!!! And despite all the hustle and bustle, my favorite place is still the garden with its beautiful sunsets and the unique starry night...
